ABOUT US

firm background, qualifications, and capability:

CounterForce was established in 1995 in Oakland, CA by the original founders, Thomas Breunig and Michael Dinga.  In 2016, James Ferguson came aboard as a principal member.  We provide seismic strengthening and concrete construction services throughout the Bay Area and San Francisco.

Since 1995, CounterForce has established a solid reputation for providing a quality product, in conjunction with excellence in customer-client relations and creative solutions.  Services vary from complex mid-size seismic retrofits on commercial and mixed-used structures, to foundation replacements, dig-outs and structure lifting, and basic seismic bolting and bracing on single family residential homes.

JAMES FERGUSON

OWNER

James grew up in the construction industry.  While not having any immediate family members in the trades, he started young working in the residential single family home and light commercial sectors.  After developing an affinity for the industries, he attended California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo) where he majored in Construction Management.

Upon graduating, he started his own general contracting company that specialized in residential and light commercial construction.  After several years, James developed relationships with Thomas Breunig and Michael Dinga (founders of CounterForce) and decided to team up and expand.  After Thomas and Michael retired in 2019, James assumed sole control of the company.
